Calicoan Island Paradise

Calicoan's ABCD point.

It's my second time to visit Calicoan island in Guiuan, Eastern Samar, and I could say that I'll never get tired of going back. The 7th Odyssey Waves Surfing Competition was a huge success, with over a hundred surfers from different places gathered to share the fun and stoke this surfing mecca can offer.

But this entry, unlike my other entries, will not showcase what happened during the event. Instead, I will blog about the locals – the true heroes behind this event. Often times, the efforts of the locals are not recognized. People talk about their participation in the event and how much fun they had. Locals, however, are left behind in the stories.

It's a rare opportunity to hang out with these people, but I got a chance to share a lot of things with them. Surfed with them, ate the same meals and joined them in their drinking sessions. Amidst competition preparation, Calicoan locals shared nothing but good vibes.
: I hope you experience the same vibe with these photos. Enjoy!
